Lynne – That’s so true. I’m making an effort to look at things differently now too…

Pablo – yes, it’s a start and now I’m even more aware of it. I wish I did have a metal detector. This deer was far from the road and this property is hunted by a certain few in the fall. I’m not sure this was a totally natural end…though I don’t know..would it have decomposed more quickly if it was left from the winter? Of course, we still had freezing dewdrops in late May!

At least you know that you don’t know. That’s the biggest step, and most people never make it.

You might consider sweeping that deer carcass with a metal detector. Maybe you’ll find a bullet or the steel arrowhead.

Oooo–those “ghost plants” are certainly eeirie.
I do like the skeleton of the deer–it speaks volumes about the cycle of life. And maybe is a good reminder to us all–time is fleeting; seize the day.

I think it’s interesting how we see things differently when we look with a different purpose. I just got a new field guide to mushrooms and I can’t wait to take it walking. I think it would be thrilling for most people to find a skeleton like that.
